My Fuckin' Style

Back in the lab @ 202 9th Street in 2001 Cise and Claw concocted this little jam. Dropping the flow reminiscent of the Cise Byrd track over a funky little guitar laden track.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Blow hole in your microphone/ With lines that melt your flesh and bone"

"And you think you want to battle son - we're down for a scuffle/ Bragging that you have more chips than ruffles"

Star Boy

This one was a inside joke dedicated to "Star Boy". Claw and Moosie Moe dropped this crazy little gem reminiscent of some Digital Underground type joint. Complete with a wild freestyle from Claw & Moosie Moe over a beat box mixed with a bubbling drum beat. Wild vocal echos pepper the track with a riding bass line accentuating it all. Just some good old times bugging out in the studio.

Great Paper Chase

A Keystone Cops theme and sample from "Killing Zoe" kick off this epic tale of the Great Paper Chase. Then enters the chimes, horn delays and deep bass over a crunchy drum track topped with some "Goodfellas" samples; way before they were grossly overused years later. 1994 was a good year and this is one cut that stands out to me over time. Although the mix is fairly muddy the concept and lyrics still shine through. Can't wait for the Mysterio remix!

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Cause Niggas that's deep in the game never come out the same/ Or don't emerge at all - they fall victim to the system/ And stay in repetitive ways that got em seeing lesser days" - E.N.S.

"Gotta pay the rent for my residence/ Chasing after dead presidents/ Hesitant to think twice/ Of things I gotta do to survive" - Fred Dogs

Never Give You Up

Building off a Harvey Mason Disco-era sample this song stands out on the album Today's Scriptures by Kwote. He weaves a tale of a love found and lost over this uptempo and free flowing jam.

This jam reminds me of Positive K's "You Got A Man" and Father MC's "I'll Do For You" but I guess that is just the disco-era samples and subject matter. Although, those two songs are polar opposites in lyrical context. Anyhow - this track by Kwote gets a 5 Star rating in my ITUNES list.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"My own brand of art but it was doomed from the start/ This comes from the heart/ By now we broke it apart"

The Great Debate

Reverend Allen and Senator Ramirez butt heads over the Elian Gonzalez situation back in 2000.

Rock Like This

Another fine selection from the Time-Space Continuum album. Over a smooth track, created by Claw with a little help from Mysterio, the five emcees drop their very different styles as they are all hooked together with a clipped vocal snippet from Pharoahe Monch.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"To spark fresh ideas you gotta open up your ears/ Get a handle on your fear and call on strength of the bear (Beer)" - Analytical

"Do the wave as I shoo away the cavemen/ Of hip hop - it's like walking on snow in flip flops" - Optiskept

"Spaced out in a zone/ All alone beyond the known planets/ No stars to light the sky/ Just a group of wise men who have travelled the trails and seen through the lies" - Kwote

"My parables incomparable/ You are unbearable/ Shaky like cerebral palsy - you're terrible" - Anoir

"If you ain't hear about it before/ We gonna tell you now/ Screaming out "fuck you" in enemies part of town" - Cise

The Lost Link - Mad

Exhilarating horns, light piano keys, and wild sound FX are served atop a head-nodding drum track composed by Mysterio. Cise and Kwote come in making it official under their LOST LINK status.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"I kick bastards into oblivion/ Let me begin again/ You already know the name/ Nothing has really changed" - Kwote

"Every piece of gear costs the same when the dark hits/ It's the newness - Ciseness the prophet/ Attracted to chrome/ Metallic like a magnet/ In fact step into my field..." Cise

Claw Mouthing Off

Abstract intro sample followed by sounds of warfare as railroad track is scratched up. Then comes in the beat box by Claw with a dope verse laid right on top.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Stop that shit you talk because the shit you talk/ Will just get you chalked/ So walk/ Or run because you might be the one to get done/ I'm on my turf for the verse..."

7th Sign (demo)

Shockwave inspired this song which gathered the interest from Aya Da Storm and Analytical who would later join him on this lyrical backlash against the corruption in our society. This the demo that Shockwave and Mysterio came up with in 1998.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"American laws and standards we must amend/ Open your third eye wide - overstand these evil trends/ Everyday our people fill state and federal pens/ How long will it take until we say never, never again" - Shockwave

The Chaos Dimension

One of the first collaborations in a long list of collaborations that Aya and Anoir worked on through 1996-2001. This was made in a dirty basement in a dilapidated row house in Washington, D.C.. Mysterio came up with both tracks.

The Droid mix utilized a sample from the Star Wars saga while the Saber mix just had a saber sample while the rest of the samples were dug fresh from the dusty crates.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Cause heavens to Mergatroid/ I rock like Asteroids/ And when my plans deployed I leave emcees devoid" - Aya da Storm

"Flipping rhymes like crimes are conducted by criminals/ Take a fraud's pride with a message that's subliminal" - Anoir Akbar

"And I got the power to make emcees babble like that tower/ And cower when they face their final hour" - Aya Da Storm

"Devils make way for the ones with the aura/ Holy like the bible, koran and the torah" - Anoir Akbar

Ice Water Slaughter

Pure flavor. Crazy samples that Claw found to pour over this steadily thumping drum track. Cise comes through with an invigorating flow filled with descriptive imagery.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"My style is fabulous/ Plus I'm undeniable/ My syntax is quick to leave your ass liable" - Cise

"With nothing red on - make the slim kids stop/ Debut of my mad hands - strolling across desert sands" - Cise

Sizzlean

J.O.B. was chilling in 283 drinking Heineken when he came up with this buttery track. Hands down this has to be one of the most memorable posse cuts and it happened to be one of the first. Just a bunch of emcees having fun on an incredibly smooth, bass pounding beat.

NOTABLE QUOTES:

"I'm on point like precision/ Destroy like demolition/ Impact on your brain like a head on collision" - Mayhem

"I'm coming in mad flavors like Now'n'Laters/ Cross the fader/ But wait because I made a/ Few more rhymes/ A few more times/ And we thick like Heinz/ And we bust like nines" - Claw

"I can't hear it if it's wack/ Save it or hit the pavement/ Hey, I get gel quick/ Irish barbarian - the Celctic" - MJB

"Hey, yo, watch out and be on alert/ Call campus safety cause I'm about to hurt" - T-Booth

"We got the Bronx, D.C. - Portland connection/ Can't forget L.E.S. is in our section/ And Crazy Larry representing everywhere/ So don't be surprised when your girl stop and stare"
